criminological theory

criminological theory

Project description
You will choose 2 of the 3 presented scenarios. You will write a two page response for each scenario (4 pages total, see guidelines below under Written Assignment Guidelines). Note: 2 pages per scenario is the minimum; 3 pages per scenario is the maximum. I will stop reading at the end of page 3.
€¢ The first page should apply a criminological theory that is applicable to the scenario, along with all the components associated with the theory. You should explain why you chose the theory.
€¢ The second page should discuss the implications of the theoretical paradigm from a public policy perspective and whether you think the theory is valid with your explanation as to why or why not. For example, deterrence theory might suggest longer prison sentences and then you would give your opinion of that solution.
While the questions will be geared toward each week’s theories, you will get credit for any theory that could be applied to the scenario as long as you give a valid reason for applying it. Please watch your writing as points will be deducted for grammar.

Exam Guidelines:
Font should be 12 point and margin width should be 1.00 inch on each side. Papers should be double-spaced with no additional spacing between paragraphs (users of Word 2007 and higher will need to turn this feature off). You need only place your name and scenario number on the top of the paper. You should not list course number, student ID number, or date and do not need to copy and paste the scenario (the TAs and I know them). If outside sources are used, they should be cited using APA style on a works cited page at the end of the scenario. While not required, taking the effort to look for outside sources will be looked upon favorably by the grader.
