1. (2-3 pages single spaced) Choose a fictional character from a book, TV show, movie, etc. Then write personal background detailing significant events that have shaped that person’s life. This should be detailed as if you are doing a clinical interview or providing a biography and should include but not necessarily be limited to:
a. Reason(s) for coming to therapy: this can be stated per the client or inferred through the biography.
b. Prior history of therapy, alcohol & drug treatment, psychiatric hospitalization, etc.
c. Family of origin issues, dynamics, unusual events, history of abuse, trauma, abandonment, etc. How many people in family; relationship with caregivers as child as well current relationship with caregivers, siblings, etc.
d. Significant romantic relationships including current partner, or romantic interest; this should include the level of satisfaction the person derives, patterns of relating, issues the person struggles with in forming and sustaining a meaningful relationships.
e. Peer friends: relationships that include social support, and best friend; this should include the level of satisfaction the person derives, patterns of relating, issues the person struggles with in forming and sustaining a meaningful relationships.
f. Work history: Level of success in career or job; how long, level of satisfaction;
2. (2-3 pages single spaced) Now, based upon the complete personal history, use one theory that best explains your client; conceptualize using key concepts and terms; define each in your own words; do not plagiarize text or other sources;
1. Make well-defined links between specifics of the theory and your client’s history, current level of functioning, conceptual diagnosis you would share with your client;
