Roman","serif"; font-size: 12.0pt;”>To give students the opportunity to conduct scholarly research on a topic and prepare a comparison/contrast essay evaluating specific historical events or periods.

Roman","serif"; font-size: 12.0pt;”>This assignment combines 3aspects: choosing a topic, researching and writing a bibliography, and writing a comparison/contrast essay. The instructions are broken down into steps (with the bibliography instructions separate) and include deadlines for each part. Only the bolded deadlines are graded, but all deadlines are important for timely completion of this assignment.

In comparing the theological differences, hierarchical structures, and influence on community, do not go beyond 1517. Include in 1 or 2 paragraphs a short consideration of the modern legacies of these medieval churches and consider how modern European society views them.

Look at the motivations behind Spanish and English exploration; consider how each nation viewed the discoveries made, and how exploration of new lands influenced the political power and economy of each respective nation. *Note that this is a European, not American, topic, so keep the focus on England and Spain throughout the paper.
