A comparison and contrast essay combines analysis of two individual items with synthesis, in which your analysis of those items will create a larger thesis statement. Often when comparing two related things we can learn much more than just analyzing one thing by itself.For this assignment you will be comparing an older film and a newer remake in the U.S. The focus should not be on the obvious technical differences. Instead what are the differences in plot, setting, character, casting, etc? What do those differences suggest to you about how cultural values have changed?
