Description
Please find the attached document for all instructions. After reading it, place your bid.
Begin by selecting a topic of interest from our course that relates to identity.
• Options include: gender, disability, indigeneity/settler colonialism, sexuality, race.
Your paper will introduce key issues about this topic, informed by material we have covered in
class. Be sure to include an evaluation of how your own identity relates to the topic. (For
example, are you a member of the group you are focusing on or an outsider; how does your
position impact your understanding of how the media portrays this group?)
Next, select one recent, specific example of media about your topic. Do not choose an example discussed in our reading materials or in the classroom – find your own example. Finally, analyze the example by focusing on questions raised in our course about one of the following: media representation or casting. To include personal reflection here, consider how the example (and your analysis of it)
impacts you (e.g. if you are a member of the group the media’s portrayal might impact how you
think about yourself or how others think about you; if you are not a member of the group, it
may impact how you think about that group).
This paper should be written as if you are a Chinese boy studying in Canada.
