Your required program is Third Street Community Center.

Answer the following questions (minimum of one paragraph for each question) and bring a typed, hard copy to class for our in-class discussion/activity:

Revisiting the Engle and Black (2008) article, the definition of poverty is two-fold; one, addressing the income measures, and two, “lacking not only material assets and health but also capabilities, such as social belonging, cultural identity, respect and dignity, and information and education.” Our last class discussion primarily focused on the effects of the economic definition, let’s now address the social/emotional impact of poverty.

How are you seeing the effects of this aspect of poverty in your program?
What are some ways that your program is mediating these effects?
The Reynolds, Temple, Robertson, and Mann (2001) study investigates the long-term effects of comprehensive preschool (and extended participation) on education and crime.

Since your program covers this age range (3-9 years old): how do the findings align with the goals of your program?
