Case Study: Quantitative Analysis and Social Capital

The U.S. is not alone in the challenges of maintaining social capital as a key element in maintaining an effective democracy. This week’s case study examines a comparative analysis of social capital across many democracies.

Read Appendix B – Trust in Government: The United States in Comparative Perspective. In 250 to 300 words, identify the research question, which this comparative study set out to address. Then, identify one of the hypotheses that the authors used to conduct their analysis. Finally, describe how the authors used quantitative data to support their analysis and assess whether you believe this is a valid method for comparing countries’ levels of social capital.
