There is a wide spectrum of beliefs regarding businesses responsibility towards the environment. Some scholars offer a minimalist view. They contend businesses have moral and ethical obligation to obey all environment law, but beyond that they argue the responsibility lies with consumers who, if they want clean products will demand them and thereby push businesses to respond. Others argue for environmentally sustainable practices that go beyond what the law requires that are also profitable. Consider the short film we watched of Ray Anderson of Interface stating his views as a “recovering polluter”.
