Review an environmental impact assessment report
Project description
Assessment Item 2:
Environmental Impact Assessment Assignment
Weighting: 40%
Overview:
Introduction
The purpose of this assessment is to ensure that you have reviewed a professionally prepared environmental impact assessment report and critically assessed it for adequacy. This assignment will build on your critical thinking and report writing skills.
In this assignment you need to access a completed Environmental Impact Assessment Report in NSW AUSTRALIA. You can choose to review the whole document or target a specific aspect. In your report (no longer than 3, 000 words) if you choose to be broad, you can review the document as a whole and consider how all the various aspects come together to deal with risk. Or if you so choose you can delve more deeply into one particular aspect (specific) and consider how the risks are dealt with from the singular point of view. Much would depend on the depth of analysis given in the document you select. Both are equally valid ways of answering the assignment question
Using the EIA report, determine if the tool addresses environmental risk, how and your assessment of its adequacy.
You are to write an assessment report. You should pay particular attention to identification of environmental risks, how the risks have been determined, the way that risks are to be managed etc. You should identify your expectations and inadequacies found. Importantly, you should make a judgement on whether the report provides sufficient information, is robust and able to support its recommendations. That is, does it provide you with sufficient evidence for you to make an informed, defendable decision on environmental risks and how they are to be managed?
Ensure that you refer to your readings and any additional references to support your assessment.
Format
Your assignment must be typed (using a standard font) and include diagrams, pictures and tables and be no longer than 3000 words in length.
