You are a member of the board of a nonprofit organization which does work in an area of interest to you and are asked to prepare a comprehensive plan for board development. The board recognizes it needs to give attention to operating more effectively and is relying on you to present them with information on the components that will address key issues such as how to formulate policy, better understand their role and relationship with the organization, how to identify, select, and orient new board members, how to monitor the progress of the organization toward fulfilling its mission and vision, what kind of tools to use to evaluate the board itself and the CEO, and how to deal with challenges as they arise.
