Birdman

As he tries to differentiate himself with his nd.former character by getting involved in other productions, the voice of his former character keeps on disturbing him. These voices make him seem as a demented person who is gradually losing his mind. Riggen tries to put on a brave fight with the voice as he builds up his upcoming play in Broadway show.

Cinematography

Birdman is characterized by long takes that put the audience in the mind and worldview of the actor that is gradually becoming mad. In essence, the movie seems as if it was taken with one hand held take. There are several aspects of cinematographic styles in this movie, which include

Handheld Shots

There are shots where the directors are blocking the scene implying that the takers are using handheld shots. The director utilized handheld shots and steady cams in some parts of the movie. This aspect of cinematography ensures that the director’s personal feel can be seen in the film. This aspect of filming is hard mainly because of the decisions that have to be done while the filming is taking place.

Practical and Theatrical Lighting

The director of the flick decided to use shots that would make the characters move freely during the set. Indeed, Chivo used practical lighting sources such as lamps and mirrors used in makeup. The director also used the naturally available light during the set to make sure that the film had an aura of practicality.

Another aspect of cinematography in the use of strong colors as the director sought to use it to highlight the drama in the film. Indeed, red and blue colors were used heavily in the movie. The filmmakers also had to control the lighting of some scenes such as New York, which is usually very bright at night.

Wide Lens Flickers

Lens flickers were utilized all through the movie to enhance the depiction of the themes in the movie. This aspect changes the contrast and mood of the pictures especially when a wide camera is used close to the characters.

The cast, the style, cinematography, the setting and the overall performance of the movie is impeccable. This movie shows how one can shake off past disappointments and work to achieve feats that were thought impossible by themselves and others.
