EXAMPLE —
S= descriptive languages used to express how nat is feeling at the start of the novel.
E= After nat meets Ari at school and finds out thats Ari’s dad lost his job because of Nat’s dad, he realises the impact Luke’s actions have had on others.
X= Brooksbank writes, Ashamed. It was an ugly, mistake feeling. He had never in his life been ashamed of his dad (35).
E= Using the words ugly and miserable emphasises the way Luke’s actions are making Nat feel
R= Descriptive language is used to help the reader understand Nat’s emotional state when he first finds out what his dad done and the impact it is having on other people.
