Written communication may take different forms such as texts, emails or tweets. Of these three types of written communication, I find tweets most interesting to compare and contrast with the academic writing. The reason behind this is that tweets have become a prevalent method of communication betweenfriends, organizations, government officials among others. With such a diverse usage and audience, tweets incorporate both formal and informal language. Moreover, the number of characters usable per message is limited, making passing the intended message challenging. As such, tweets share similarities with academic writing, as well as considerable distinctions.
