Wild type Arabidopsis is a selfing diploid plant with 2n=10. You notice five different varieties with distinct phenotypes that involve leaves and fruit of abnormal size, shape and color. These mutations do not breed true and have odd segregation patterns.
A) Suggest a chromosomal basis for these mutations and explain why the segregation patterns are strange.
B) When Arabidopsis is crossed to a close relative Capsella(2n=10) a hybrid is created between them. How many chromosomes would the hybrid have? Explain your reasoning
