What is wrong with the American economy and how can the problems be fixed or ameliorated?
Conduct research into your chosen topic. The topic isWhat is wrong with the American economy and how can the problems be fixed or ameliorated?" and prepare a final paper (5-6 pages in length), typed, double-spaced, Times new Roman,12 font, margins around each page not to exceed 1 inch, appropriate use of citations as footnotes, include a bibliography. Note that citations, as necessary, should be provided in the form of footnotes (i.e., listed at the bottom of the page on which they appear€“not at the end of the paper). Ensure that you adhere to critical paper writing guidelines by responding to the guide questions enumerated: 1. What are the contending or conflicting views, perspectives, and issue positions in respect to your paper topic? Please elaborate.
2. Based on your research, what is your position on the issue area that you have selected? Explain why.
Format for Critical Papers
1. Identify the contending (opposing) views, perspectives, and social forces (which are usually represented by certain individual personalities) and the specific issues around which there is contention or conflict. What exactly is each conflicting side of the issue or controversy saying or fighting for? Why?
2. Why is each competing side of the issue(s) or controversy taking the issue position that they are? Then compare the competing issue positions of the competing sides (which don’t necessarily have to be two in number) with some identifiable standard of justice, fairness, morality, democratic principle, public interest, freedom, or whatever comparative yardstick you think is primary and of key importance.
3. Take a position regarding which of the competing sides of the issue or controversy is most favorable or best and state the reasons why you have taken this position based on the results of your analysis conducted in #2 above; explain why the situation is like it is now (and not some other way) based on the results of your analysis in step 2. That is, justify or back-up your position rather than merely declare or proclaim it. Remember: You might conceivably arrive at the conclusion that some other alternative position, unlike any of those articulated by the competing sides identified in #1 above, is most appropriate. So do not feel restricted by having to identify exclusively with one of the competing positions identified in #1.
