Using your course and textbook readings and the University Online Library, respond to the following:
•According to the CDC (2013), 72.5% of ninth to twelfth graders enrolled in public or private schools have had at least one alcohol-based drink on at least one day of their life. Within the past thirty days prior to the survey, 41.8% of these students admitted to at least one alcoholic beverage intake. How would you approach the subject of alcohol use with your adolescent patient? Do you think these statistics are accurate? Why or why not? Cite references for your answers using APA format.
•The Neuman Systems Model provides great insight to any patient population. Apply the Neuman Systems Model to one of the following adolescent problems: obesity, anorexia, ADHD, or depression. Give a brief overview of how the Neuman Systems Model can assist you with treating your patient with (choose one) obesity, anorexia, ADHD, or depression. Please cite references in APA format.
•Apply Imogene King’s Goal Attainment Theory to one of the following adolescent issues: obesity, anorexia, depression, alcohol/drug use, or sexual activity. Give a brief overview of how the Goal Attainment Theory can help you improve the health of this particular patient. Cite your references using APA format.
•The CDC (2013) found that 10.6% of students surveyed had gone without food for twenty-four or more hours to lose or maintain weight within thirty days of the survey. Of these surveyed students, 5.0% had taken diet pills, powders, or liquids within thirty days to lose or maintain weight. Describe your approach to an adolescent patient, who you suspect of having a weight problem. List at least three (but no more than five) questions you would ask the patient to determine if there was a disorder such as anorexia, bulimia, or overactive eating. How would you encourage the patient toward a healthier lifestyle? Cite your references in APA format. Use evidence-based practice resources for your answers.
