The Enigma of Internet Freedom

  1. Introductory Paragraph:

A description of the contents and arguments of the article to be criticized in the essay is made. The article to be criticized is The Enigma of Internet Freedom’ written by Derek Bambauer. The author clearly states in the article’s thesis statement that the society should acknowledge the negative side of internet free speech and internet freedom in general (Bambauer 4).

  1. Thesis Statement:

Contrary to the arguments presented in the article, not everyone would want to deal with the internet let alone the freedom that should come with it.

  1. IV.   First Paragraph: First Counterargument

-Inevitability of the vices of the internet

-Not everyone is subjected to deal with the internet.A few people have chosen to stay away from the internet and have tried to avoid the drama that usually comes with it (Flanagan 110).

– Regulation of the internet

  1. Second Paragraph: Second Counterargument

-The internet should not be viewed as a basic need

-There are expenses incurred during the provision of data services

-Giving internet provision control to the government authorities will further hinder internet freedom. The government would be using the taxpayers’ earnings to offer a service that some people do not need, and the service can be squarely debated to be a privilege (Nunziato 108).

  1. Third Paragraph: Third Counterargument:

-There should not be a single international governing body regulating the internet

– Countries have separate opinions on what freedom is and how it should be approached (Weaver 58).

  VII. Conclusion:

-Restate thesis

-Concluding thoughts
