The Constitution of the United States vested relatively few powers in the national (or federal)
government. In an essay, describe the specific powers vested in the federal government by the
U.S. Constitution and assess why these powers were vested in the federal government. In
order to assess why these powers and not others were vested in the federal government, you
should consider the historical events and the governance of the territory that became the United
States in the period from roughly the 1760s through 1787.
