SMART BUILDINGS DEMAND IN IRAQ

SMART BUILDINGS DEMAND IN IRAQ

Thesis: The drastically increasing population growth combined with global warming concerns and green issues have resulted into an urgent increase in the demand for smart buildings in Iraq.

I. Introduction

A. Increased levels of technology to facilitate building of smart buildings

B. Rapidly growing population leading to increased smart buildings demand to satisfy the market needs

C. Durability and safety of smart buildings

II. Cost  efficiency

A. Replacement of conventional buildings

B. Less maintenance cost due to the materials used

C. More efficient in energy consumption hence reduction in operating costs

III. Environment friendly

A. Reduction of energy consumption by up to 30 percent compared to conventional buildings

B. Cutting water consumption and emissions by up to 50 percent

C. Reduction of waste in the smart buildings by up to 90 percent

IV. Credible building materials

A. Longer lasting building materials

B. Detection and protection from catastrophes such as earthquakes

C. Integrated approach to designing and installation of the building materials and systems

V. ICT in the smart buildings

A. Overall integration of all information systems

B. Foundations based on structural cables, standardized databases and network protocols

C. Building automation system

1. Lighting control in the building

2. Control of the air handlers

3. Programmed alarms and security

D. Consolidation of information and communications systems within the smart buildings

VI. Conclusion

A. Early stages of smart building mass adoption

B. Global warming concerns and green issues resulting to focus on energy conservation

C. Increased value of building to developers and owners

D. Provision of accommodation to the drastically increasing populations

E. Becoming popular alternatives to the already existing conventional buildings
