There are 4 main parts to Assignment 2; Stakeholders, Organisational structure, Roles and Responsibilities, and the
Project Team.
For the section on stakeholders you will need to overview the literature on stakeholders, particularly how they relate and
interrelate within the project and how this is often captured in a diagram. Then try and see whether or not the project
conformed to these understandings. For example, you might take one of the diagrams used to illustrate stakeholder
relationships and superimpose the project under examination. This will allow you to see and talk about any interesting
discrepancies. You need to do the same thing with how the stakeholders are best managed (according to the literature)
over the life of the project, and how they were actually managed.
The section on organisational structure forces you to look at the wider environment were the project took place. Were the
organisational structures facilitating or hindering the project. What does the literature say is best – and compare that with
what actually happened.
Roles and responsibilities etc: How should team roles be allocated vs. how were they. How reporting should be
structured vs how was it? And so on.
Team development: What does the literature have to say about forming project teams in this environment and how does
compare with what was done? How should conflict be handled and how was it handled.
In each of these sections you should be fleshing out the disparity between what the books/journals say and what actually
happens. Then in your conclusions you can expands and draw all these issues together to see if there’s a common
problem. In the recommendation you can then give some directional advice on how to go about making improvements
with regard to how stakeholders and teams are managed.
