Prioritizing an IT Project

� Write a 3-page paper describing two competing (for
funds/personnel) IT projects within an organization. The paper must
evaluate each identified project against the following criteria:

� The project drives (or creates) more revenue for the corporation.

� The project cuts the cost of doing business.

� The project is mandated by Federal, State, County or local laws or
executive orders.

� The competitor has undertaken a similar project.

� A scoring system may be developed by �weighting� each of the
four above-listed criteria. In some IT projects, all four criteria may
apply. The student may provide analysis by observing how the student
evaluated each project versus how the targeted corporation evaluates
each project. Be prepared to discuss the analysis in class.
