List two FDA-approved medications your family members, friends or relatives are taking, one prescription medicine (Rx) and one over-the-counter medicine (OTC). No dietary suplements.
For each of the medications, find out the following information:

The name of the medication. Is it a brand name medicine or a generic version? If it is a brand name medicine, does it have a generic version and what is the name of its generic version? Or vice verse.

How does it work?
Specific biochemical interaction through which a drug produces its pharmacological effect (for example, Lipitor lowers plasma cholesterol and lipoprotein levels by inhibiting HMG-CoA reductase and cholesterol synthesis in the liver…)

What other medicines could be used to treat this condition?
How do the risks and the benefits compare?
Side/Adverse effects
What are the possible side effects of using the medicine?
Contraindications
Who should avoid taking the medicine?
Drug interactions
What are the possible interactions the medication may have with another medication (prescription or over-the-counter), dietary supplements, drinks or foods? (What should be avoided to take, drink and eat while using this medicine?)
Instructions
Ask your family, friend or relative who is taking the medicine the above list of questions to see if he/she has the knowledge you have developed. Write down all the information that you find.
