personal fable

personal fable

What was your personal fable as a teen? Secret identity? Superhero? What were you able to do? How did it affect your relationships?

OR

Were you invulnerable to death or pregnancy? How did you tempt fate? Did this lead to bad decision-making? What was the result?

If you don’t remember having a fable, make one up! Be creative!

Explain WHY you had this fable. Bullies at school? Absent parent? How did the fable help you cope with your life?

Remember this is your fable as a TEEN, not a young child.

SAMPLES:

As a teenager I often fantasized about having the ability to alter space and time so that I could re-do or re-experience things that had not gone the way that I had hoped.

I was a foster child so my life as an adolescent was more complicated and difficult than most other kids. I never really felt like I fit in because I was always being shifted around from foster home to group home to foster home to group home etc. etc. ad nauseum.

I also used to fantasize that I had the power of flight, and that I could zoom over the Earth at Superman speeds and rescue children and small animals that were in distress.

This secret power enabled me to feel that the world was not a dangerous place where I could never be sure of what would happen to me next. It also kept me from feeling completely powerless which is a feeling very common to most foster kids.€¦.

Again, write what you remember or make something up, but I want to see inside the mind of your teenage self!
