ANTH 3130—Peoples of Latin America
Content: Must use at least 3 readings from at least 2 course units. An “A” essay will integrate a combination of lectures, films, class discussions, and/or outside sources. Must be written at a collegiate level that utilizes an effective argument that is logically organized. The essays should have no spelling or grammatical errors. See the writing rubric in the syllabus for more information.
**Thematically these questions are from the latter part of the course. But you may (i.e., should) utilize the entire semester’s readings and discussions to craft your essay. **
Format: Double spaced, 12 point font
Length: At least 4 pages (including headings, at least 4 citations or bibliography)
Style: Use AAA style guide for citations: http://www.aaanet.org/publications/style_guide.pdf
In text citations come after the sentence and before the period (Name Year). Or (Name Year: Page) for quotes.

ANSWER ONE OF THE FOLLOWING QUESTIONS:
1. The War on Drugs is in its fourth decade. Discuss the reasons for the perpetuation of the drug crisis. What are the impacts on Latin American peoples?
2. President Obama recently announced an executive action that will change the immigration status of 5 million undocumented people out of an estimated population of about 12 million (numbers vary drastically between sources). Discuss the experiences of these people, before, during, and after migration.
3. Health disparities have a large influence on Latin American peoples. Discuss the patterns of health and illness in Latin America. What factors contribute to higher rates of illness among certain groups?
Postscript: Each file, which is a topic (course unit), includes lectures, reading, films and books that required by professor. Therefore, you should (i.e. must) choose appropriate resources from these files to use to finish this paper according to the question you chose.
