One skill of an effective public administrator is the ability to research and inform about issues, events, and instances occurring at public institutions.
With that in mind, it is important to be able to practice various skills, which allow you to improve on a professional level. One important skill is the ability to effectively interpret issues, events, and instances.
Search for a local issue in your area, and use that issue to identify and describe each stage of the policymaking process.
As a public administrator, it is important to acknowledge and to be able to operate within an organizational culture. Not all cultures are willing to accept or adopt certain policies. A public administrator can identify these cultures and work toward a resolution.
Think about a current or recent organization you witnessed (i.e., employment, memberships, etc.). Describe the organization and what it is, and describe the culture of that organization in one word.
Then, briefly explain that one-word description. In your response, include, and explain why, one example of a policy that would NOT be accepted well and one example of a policy that would be accepted well.
