Nearly all authors from this term address cultural or social problems in their writings

Research Essay

Your paper should demonstrate a grasp of both the primary text(s) you choose to write on and the critical materials available. This means that you must show an understanding of the reliability of critical materials, how to find scholarly criticism, and an ability to judge whether a work is dated or current. While some topics will have more or less critical materials available than others, I advise a 3 source minimum. You may want to consider biographical materials, letters, print history, journals, or other such sources as well.
1) Nearly all authors from this term address cultural or social problems in their writings. Does a writer’s political agenda detract from a poem’s aesthetic value, or do activism and artistry combine to make a text stronger? Discuss the relationship between activism and art.

2) Some of the texts in our readings appear to react to or reflect social problems, such as race in The Call of Cthulhu. Other texts appear to comment on or critique social problems, such as The Yellow Wallpaper. What is the difference, if there is a difference, between these two kinds of texts?

My expectation:
– follow the instruction.
– cite and quote properly.
– adviod using TOO fancy vocab.
– keep sentense simple.
– College level. (I am an ESL student from Taiwan. My teacher knows what to expect from an ESL student.)

I will upload 1-2 reading materials if you pick the first topic.
If you pick the topic 2, you can find the article online.
