Mental Disorder, Crime, and Criminal Justice
Involuntary inpatient and outpatient commitment may be used for a variety of situations in multiple settings. Some have argued that it may be misused and is a coercive and stigmatizing method that violates an individual’s rights. Others have argued that lives could have been saved and harm prevented if appropriate involuntary mental health care was provided.

Note: You might want to specify whether you are addressing adults or juveniles, inpatient or outpatient, and before, during, or after commitment.
