Project description
1. Use Excel to simulate drawing 100 simple random samples of each of the sizes n = 60, n = 200, and n = 800 from a population with a uniform distribution. The rectangle for this uniform distribution starts at 48 and ends at 152. Make a histogram of the sample means for each simulation, using the same horizontal scales so that the three graphs can be compared easily. How does increasing the size of a simple random sample affect the sampling distribution of the sample mean?
The histogram of the sample means is an estimate of the sampling distribution of the sample means.
2. Use Excel to simulate drawing 100 simple random samples of each of the sizes n = 60, n = 200, and n = 800 from a population with population proportion, p = 0.6. Make a histogram of the sample proportions for each simulation, using the same horizontal scales so that the three graphs can be compared easily. How does increasing the size of a simple random sample affect the sampling distribution of the sample proportion?
The histogram of the sample proportions is an estimate of the sampling distribution of the sample proportions.
Homework 3 is due at the beginning of class on September 17.
