Assignment- Decision Brief

Many times a decision maker will ask for a summary about a policy change. The policy decision brief provides a format for summarizing pertinent information. Mason, Leavitt, & Chaffee, 6th edition text, p. 55 (Box 7-2) provides an example. Your systems paper is a larger document to persuade a decision maker to consider your recommendation as a solution for a policy.

Directions:

You will submit a policy decision brief for review. This is your opportunity to put together the elements of your paper in a concise way. Consider the following information:

Context

Describe policy problem/issue;
The Background, encompassing social, ethical, political, and legal factors;
Identify stakeholders in the system to be assessed.
Policy options
Identify policy goals
Objectives
Options
Evaluation of policy options
Discuss pros/cons of each option, in terms of cost, quality of care, protection of patient and provider autonomy, and political feasibility
Compare options
Summarize
Recommend most effective option

You may use an outline format or a paragraph style. You must include at least 3 references with your submission in APA format 6th edition. If you choose an outline format, please be sure to include enough detail to understand the concept.
