COURSEWORK SCENARIO
Strategy development in relation to a selected Construction and Property enterprise.
Construction organisations are faced with business environment (micro-environment) factors that have an impact on their competitive position in the market either by presenting them with opportunities or threats. The solution to these factors will require development and implementation of a particular strategy which is influenced by what is happening in the surrounding business environment (opportunities and threats) as well as the organisation’s resources, competences and core competences (strengths and weaknesses).
Your task:
¢ Select a Construction and Property enterprise that you can gain access to or know well in ANY country;
¢ Identify and critically analyse the threat(s) and opportunity(ies) within the organisation’s business environment as well as the organisation’s resources, competences and/or core competences (strengths and weaknesses) in relation to identified threat(s) and opportunity(ies);
¢ Discuss the organisation’s chosen strategy, critically analysing whether or not this strategy draws on and exploits the organisation’s strengths to take advantage of opportunities available
¢ Similarly, critically analyse whether the strategy enables the organisation to defend against the identified threat(s) from the business environment while overcoming organisational weaknesses; and,
¢ Give recommendations, as appropriate, in regards to this strategy
