Information system is the passing of information through the use of technology in supporting the functioning and activities of a given company that is either public or private. In the recent past the management of a firm greatly depended on labor, capital and the raw materials but this has since changed in the modern time where management of a firm is based on the flow of information. Information system is a very vital tool in a firm since it supports the key aspects of productivity such as collection, storage, manipulation, distribution and utilization of the firm’s information of resources.

For an organization to become a leader in the modern market it has to have strategic information system, the creation of a better information system will boost the business performance. The role of the information system has to play in an organization has to be very effectively supportive the business by not separating the integration of information technology in a manner that the business will only realize profit as well as improve is competitiveness in the market. It is very essential for a business to have to have an information system to be in a position that execution of duties and linking up plans should be treated in a subsystems way that may also involves integration, this strategy will make the business realize it vision. The resultant of this aspect will therefore be information system, information technology, and the business strategy that is designed according to the formation of the organization, both the organizational culture of a company and the process of the business nature are jointly carried out this by a company, then this strategy will be a necessity of running a business or an organization.

This system should also be applied in the society so that it becomes a culture that even the customers are familiar with. If companies that are carrying out business are to find along serving management success, then it has to come up with a strategic plan that tackles very well the factors of information systems and information technology to help them face five stiff competition pressures that makes the makes the structure of competition on the market industry. These structures are, competition for competitors in the industry, the threat our organization brings to the market as a new entrant, then there is the threat faced with the replacement of a product in the market, the other one is the bargaining power of the customers and lastly the barraging power of the suppliers.

The effect of information system has greatly influenced the business environment in many companies, there has been a significant increase in the number of customers which as brought about intense competition as companies are try to outdo other companies that are producing the same kind of commodities. The information systems has therefore provided the customers with a lot of choices of getting their goods of preference from their company of choice. The information systems also supports the customers in decision making, the information that is being used can be formatted in a way that it solves the customers problem.

Information system is the collection of people, hardware, software, data, procedures that are put in place to support the daily running of an organization, the information systems is classified in five major categories, which are the office information systems, transaction processing systems, management information systems, decision making systems and expert systems.

In office information systems hardware, software and network are used to enhance the work flow and also to facilitate the communication among the staff and customers. Office automation is the use of electronics such as computers to perform task. The office information systems are the nerve centre of operation in an organization, it supports the daily activities by creating and distributing the schedule of the organization to all the members of the organization.

Transaction process systems are used to capture and monitor the process of data that was generated during the day’s transaction. This is done by the clerical staff who records the business transaction between the organization and the customer, the clerks also respond to customers on the arising issues from the organization as well as keeps the customers informed on the emerging trends, all data and information of the customers are maintained here.

In management information systems the main concerned is the internal sources of information, it draws its information from the transaction processing systems and later summarizes the report in management form.

Decision support systems are designed to aid the management of an organization in making decision in situations where there is a crisis or whenever the certainty of the outcome is not predictable. Analysis of information and gathering of information through the use of complex spreadsheets and database to determined the model created.

Knowledge management system is helps the business in creation of and sharing of information, they are mostly used in organizations which create new enterprises or innovation of new trends in the marketwhich can be shared with customers and other members of the organization in creation of commercial opportunities.

The information system is developed with the aim facilitating the functions of employees working in functional are such as marketing, human resource accounts, finance among others. In order for an information system to be develop that will address the needs of an organization, and then there has to be a combination of the knowledge of the business, the technical knowhow and the structures of the organization such as the operation and the objectives.

The main purpose of communication in a business environment is for both the customer and the seller to understand each other. There are many ways of passing information that a seller can use to pursued his customer by motivating him or her that the merchandise the he or she is selling will satisfy the customer. So the first thing that the seller has to look at is that he must understand the customer and have a good plan for the communication between them, the other important that the seller should be able to understand how to communicate in writing, this will prove to be very important when the seller has a variety that are classified may need primary such as letters, surveys, diaries or secondary information which may be electronic forms of written communication of business.

The third important factor that the seller should be good at is understand how to communicate verbally with the customer, when communicating to a customer verbally one is required to be able to use understandable language that the customer is familiar with, it is also very important to have a plan so that you don’t end up telling the customer irrelevant things. The other aspect that is also important is listening, in a business environment in order to avoid confusion or misunderstandings between the seller and the customer, if the rule of listening is observed then there will be mutual understanding of new things on both the seller and the buyer. Since the customer is the most valuable person in the business environment, if keenly listened to it will clear any kind of doubt and uncertainty from the customer, the other thing is the customer will foster a good relation between both parties, hence bring about a team work and the customer will feel comfortable knowing that he or she is being heard.

The information system assist the business field through the its functions such as marketing and sales, production, human resource accounting and finance. In order to satisfy the needs of customers and other objectives of the organization, a good marketing plan has to be put in place to make it easy for promotion, sales and marketing since the information will assist the marketing mix which includes product, price, place and promotion. The information systems also assist in forecasting sales, this is reached at through a planned marketing mix and outstanding orders. Information systems also ensures that there is quality control of the subsystem since the manufacturing mainly depends on the data that is taken from the shops.
