IB Physics Internal Assessment:
-Criteria to get a high grade (important) [https://ibpublishing.ibo.org/server2/rest/app/tsm.xql?doc=d_4_physi_gui_1402_1_e&part=9&chapter=5]
-Structure to follow:
1. Introduction
-why did I choose this experiment? (same flow of water in everyday life therefore interested me: fountains, pools, bathroom..)
– explain the experiment (I used a beaker which measures volume to get the volume of the water at a certain speed. With the same speed of water later I used another beaker with holes to see the equilibrium height)
2. Variables
-Independent (flow rate of water into column)
– Dependent (equilibrium height- height above external point in column wall)
-Controls (type of water, temperature of water, cycle of water)
3.Apparatus
4.Method
– first part (calibration of flow rate)
-second part (equilibrium height)
5.Data
-Raw Data
-first chart (it is in the excel document )
-second chart (it is in the excel document )
-Diagram (the diagram is in the excel document. it should be completed with the max and min slopes and uncertainties. It should be height (cm) over flow rate (R)) The outliner is given by a small systematic error.
6. the theory should be that h is proportional to R (flow rate). h=gradient R
7.Evaluation
-Answer RQ
-Explain why h is proportional to R
-Weaknesses of the experiment, why my line was’t proportional and what could have been done better next time (measuring time of flow- human error (and solution to it), some water was left in the beaker before the next measurment…)
8. Bibliography

You can invent the numbers for trial 2 and 3 they should be very very similar to trial 1. Whatever question you have do not hesitate to contact me, I am really sorry if it is messy, i will try and get the pictures of the beakers for tomorrow so you can understand better
