Historic Fiction

Historic Fiction

*Choose a story that you are curious about, that you love, that you’d like to learn from.
*Reread it.
*Identify at least five aspects to the story that you want to try out in your own work-such as significant details, tone, plot structure, character development, pacing, point of view, dialogue, scene-setting, or anything else you can identify as being craft elements.
*Write your historical fiction,(using the characters and place you will use for your longer story) or at least first five pages of your story. use this published story as the inspiration for your own by applying the author’s techniques to your own story.
*After you’ve written the story or start of a story, WRITE A REFLECTION that identifies:
1. the story you choose to emulate, 2. what elements of the story you chose to emulate, 3. examples of your thoughts on the process of doing this writing activity, including a few questions you’d like to ask your readers about your story.
GRADING: you will be graded on your ability to identify the craft elements of the published, clearly describe how you’ve used them, and perform those elements in your own text. Feel free to take risks in the creative work.
