Globalization of American Culture is a Development

Globalization of American Culture is a Development

The tide of nationalism that is spreading across the world is inevitable and every country is working towards creating a global community. There are those who have argued that globalization may lead to loss of culture, but due to the rising need to expand local markets in favor of international trade, it is arguably right to say that globalization will bring a positive change. In particular, globalization of the American culture has a positive impact on other countries, as well as creating a global culture. I support David Rothkopf argument that Americanization of the world together with the value system of the United States should be encouraged to the interest of US and other countries.

Rothkopf have made convincing arguments that encourage globalization of the American culture. For example, he argues that every individual at every level of the society can appreciate the impact of the international changes through the media, in the products they buy and even in the food that they eat. He argues that due to the growth of the labor pool, people have looking for opportunities in other countries such as United States; as a result, there is need for cultural integration at the global level. He adds that global integration will reduce cultural barriers, cultural conflicts and religious based conflicts. For example, he argues that culture is not static and, American culture is based on have formed from a history of social customs and values that have been popularly accepted in political, legal and religious systems. He further advances his argument by saying that American culture is tend to harmonious different cultures since it has been formed by people who originated from different cultural backgrounds. For example, he states that the American culture comprises the Jews, Muslims, Hindus, Christians, Saxons, Turks and many other religions and cultures (Rothkopf, 1997).

Rothkopf also argues people have seen the importance of enhanced communication and understanding by use of technologies such as the satellites. He argues that America has successfully championed creation of the multicultural society and which, has resulted in progress in civilization. He explains that the American culture is civilized form of culture; that it has help to eradicate subversive elements of such which include language, religion and political beliefs of people (Rothkopf, 1997).

American culture has challenges several cultural values which include language, morality and cultural identity. For instance, America dominates in global the global traffic in ideas and information. As a result, some countries have prohibited some information that is been disseminated across the borders and into citizens homes. For example, China has formed a “Central Leading Group” that has been filtering out American-content information that they have considered it to be obscene-pornography. In addition, America is quite competitive in telecommunication, compared to other countries; is a result, it has ensured that the world is moving towards a common language, it being English. Lastly, in the 21st century, America is leading in the dominant power of information age; breaking down barriers that divide nations including the cultural identity. America is building ties with other countries that focus on a common culture of shared interests and beliefs (Rothkopf, 1997).

I think that Rothkopf is right that American culture has a positive influence on development. In my opinion, the American economy has opened many job opportunities for people around the world. As a result, people are moving to work and stay in America, adapting and living the American way of life.
