Genetic Disease Paper

For this assignment, you need to choose one disease that is cause by a genetic abnormality of some sort (addition of a base, deletion of bases, addition or deletion of chromosomes, etc.).  You will research the disease and write a brief paper about it.  The paper should address the following points:

• What genetic abnormality causes the disease
• What are the signs and symptoms of the disease
• What populations are most likely to get the disease
• Do we know how the disease came about?
• How is it diagnosed?
• Are there any treatments?

For this paper, you don’t have to cite the sources in the paper itself unless you are directly quoting the source (using the words of your source is a direct quote).  But, please attach a sheet of references that you used when compiling information for the paper.  I am not looking for a specific format, but APA tends to be the most common.  I am just looking for enough information that I can go back and find the source if I need to.

This assignment is worth a possible 30 points total.
