Discuss the students attitude to both academic and recreational reading
Discuss emergent reading, phonemic, phonological awareness skills, word decoding skills such as use of phonics, high frequency words, syllables, context clues, fluency or comprehension skills.
Describe students writing survey to determine students attitude towards writing
Describe four observations of the childs reading behavior, observe the learning behaviors in terms of what seems to work best for the child, during whole class, small group, individual/independent.
Evaluate the childs needs based on all the information and observations done and decide which areas she needs to imprrove. Then using information from four articles that offer information on improving students reading performance in the areas you identified, describe strategies that can be used by the teacher to help this child improve her literacy performance.
