Write a total of three different reflections on gender in their everyday lives. These reflections should be about 4-500 words each and focus on something you heard, saw, or experienced that relates to gender in a contemporary setting. Observations should be based on advertisements or a conversation that you were part of or overheard (radio, bus chatter, at home, in public or private). Only one of these can be based on media (e.g. TV, billboard, social media meme, newspaper etc.). Record your observations and describe the who, what, when, and where of this reflection. Describe the people involved and use pseudonyms to respect their privacy (unless the person is publicly known such as on the radio or TV). Transcribe what was said and indicate the time, site, date, geography, and any other relevant information. For example, “On Monday, May 22, 2019, at about 8am, I was in my kitchen at my apartment in Surrey having breakfast with my roommates, Chen (cisgender male, 19 years old) and Sandeep (gender queer, 21 one years old), when Chen said “It’s a biological fact that men are stronger than women…”.
