Gathering Evidence

Please read the following carefully:
In a 5-6 page essay, give a brief summary of an event that has occurred since December 1, 2012. After clearly describing the event, please address the following:
• Which 2-3 events or themes from the past have either

(1) directly influenced the current event under discussion OR
(2) most closely resemble the current event?
• How does this historical view change one’s understanding of this current event?
• Are there historical lessons to be applied to this issue? If so, what are they?

History papers require that you use evidence to support your main points. This means that for every major point you assert you’ll need to find a quote that supports it.

The first sources to consult will be current news articles. You may use either print or Internet news sources, but you must make sure that it is a legitimate and reliable news source.
