In 2011 the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) introduced the My Plate initiative, to help Americans make healthy food choices and to be active every day. Recently, new guidelines were released, and the initiative was updated to include, MyPlateWins!

Choose a developmental period, and imagine you are teaching a family about ways to achieve the goal. Identify a specific way that one might incorporate that concept. For example, one of the tips is to move to low fat or fat-free milk or yogurt. For an adolescent who drinks whole milk, you might suggest the patient go down from whole to 2%, 1% and then fat free in stages, so they can get used to the difference in taste.give at least 3 referencesReferences
