Exxon Mobil Corp. Business Ethics

Exxon is a multinational oil company that has gone through difficulties in its operations in the recent past. For instance, the spillage of oil in the shores of Mexico became a major problem for the company. However, through its ethical standards, the company has pulled through I such situations and is one of the largest companies globally. On its official website, the company explains how they uphold ethical standards in the company. It explains how being an international company dealing with oil, makes it difficult if the company does not abide by business ethics. In this paper, I choose to look at ethics and antitrust and fair trade activities in the company. In a post found in a document belonging to the company, it explains that Exxon Mobil Corporation together with its employees have a duty to comply with antitrust and competition laws of all the countries they operate in including the united states. For instance, the company classifies any violation of the Sherman’s law as a felony (Exxon, 2014).

The company is able to implement these ethical standards by making their implementation and application the company’s policy. All employees are required to abide by these rules and any employee who contradicts this policy is fired (Exxon, 2014).

Operating in line with these two OTCs enables the company to venture into new business environments with ease. Its compliance with the international business laws and ethics makes it an attractive enterprise that nations all over the world. The company is then likely to establish its affiliates in foreign nations. Moreover, Exxon is able to conduct its activities easily in a new environment because it does not have to realign itself to the laws of the country in question because these business laws are applicable in most states globally (Exxon, 2014).
