Donald and Tina decided to pursue couples therapy because they had recently experienced an emotional affair. Both are fans of the online game World of Warcraft. However, in recent months, Tina has been spending more and more time online playing the game. She even forgoes sleep and sex in order to spend more time online. She has met several new friends, with whom she participates in Warcraft raids and other game-specific tasks. One of these new friends, Marty, has become more than just a friend to Tina. They have exchanged photos, have told each other I love you, and have started to talk on the phone as well as in the game. Marty lives several hours away and the two have no plans to meet in person, but Tina admits that the time and attention she is giving to Marty are taking away from her relationship with Donald. Donald feels that he has been betrayed but is desperate to make the relationship work at any cost.
