Evolution of Jazz Drumming
Explore the evolution of the drum set from the 1800s to the early 1900s. Additionally, look at how the role of the jazz drummer has shifted from being solely a time keeper in early 1900s New Orleans jazz bands and swing bands of the 20s and 30s, to becoming a more equal part of the ensemble with the birth of Be-Bop and having greater interaction and improvisation with the other musicians.
