Everyday Life Final Essay
Order Description
Exam Question:
‘Much of everyday life seems obvious, natural and inevitable. When we look closer, however, we can see the ways in which everyday life reflects power and inequality, the operation of ideology, and the process of socialisation.’
Respond to this claim in relation to the three topics of work, health, and racism. Address each of these topics in a separate paragraph, applying the above concepts. Your answer must reflect your engagement with both the lectures, and the relevant essential readings.
Exam Instructions:
All answers must be expressed ENTIRELY in your own words. Theorists/authors should be acknowledged (ie ‘Scott argues that ….’) but do not use direct quotes or close paraphrasing from either the readings or the lectures. You must express your ideas in your own words in order to demonstrate your understanding of the material. This is not a suggestion – it is a requirement.
Your answer must be 750 words in length. Each topic will be marked separately and each topic is equal in marks, so you should devote approximately 250 words to each topic.
You do not have to apply each concept to each topic. However, you should address each of these concepts in the course of your complete exam answer.
No additional research is required – you should refer only to the essential readings and lectures.
Your exam answer will be checked for originality through turnitin.
Double space your exam answer.
Do not cut and paste or retype the exam question into your answer.
