Murray-Darling Basin (MDB) is a mainstream river that covers one-seventh of the total area of mainland in Australia and connected to Darling River, Murray River and Murrumbidgee River (http://www.murrayriver.com.au/about-the-murray/murray-darling-basin/). Therefore, it provides lots of ecosystem services to develop Australian’s economics and enhance their living standard resulting from ecosystem such as agriculture production, tourism, animal habitat and so on. In this case, it is important to identify the importance and the effect of the ecosystem service in Murray-Darling Basin and government should take action on any activities that may impact in biodiversity of Murray-Darling Basin. In this report, three core ecosystem services will be discussed and some of the market-based instruments to monitor and control the ecosystem services will be implemented as policies to regulate the ecosystems.
