Overview:

We’ll be looking at one of the greatest plays of the Modern period of theater, Edward Albee’s “Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf?” It really is a breathtaking work, full of even more breathtaking performances. You’ll be watching the landmark version starring Richard Burton and Elizabeth Taylor. They actually went and made Taylor look frumpy. Go figure.

This week will be much like the last two. Please work on the following:
1.Read this page’s notes. (below Albee Commentary)
2.Watch the video
3.After you view the film this week, please provide Discussion Questions

Albee Commentary:
I’d like you to focus on what Albee is trying to tell us this week. What points are driven home in this tale? Who’s side are you on? Anyone’s? How do you feel about the ending?

Take this commentary the way you took the last two week’s worth of work. View the film, then come up with some discussion questions based on your viewing. These questions should be posted no later than midnight, Wednesday, midnight. I will choose the best to post as threads for this week’s discussions.

If you’d like you can post questions that relate this play to others, or possibly themes from this play to other themes we’ve discussed.
