Choice #1: “Brain Gain” by Talbot pg 505: RECREATIONAL DRUGS/ ENHANCEMENT DRUGS: “Where does our society stand on the use of recreational or enhancement drug use? What are the moral or ethical debates about recreational or enhancement drug use?
Choice #2: “The Moral Meaning of a Pause” by Gellman pg 544. CLONING/GENETIC RESEARCH:. Do the benefits outweigh the potential harm of genetic research? Can genetic research be conducted in a moral or ethical manner?
Choice #3: “Bad Food?” by Bittmanpg 294.FOOD/ The FOOD Industry What we eat and the companies that make our food have become ethical or even moral topics for debate? Should the food industry sell us food that isn’t good for us? Should we continue to buy unhealthy food even if it is cheaper? Should companies charge more for organic or healthy food? What are some debates around the food industry today?
Choice #4: “Soldiers Stories” pg 374.WAR: Is going to war a moral or ethical decision? Should men and women be required to fight in wars or is that a moral dilemma? Are deaths in war moral or ethical deaths?

May 1: Library Essay Rough Draft due Thursday evening Apr 30 :on Discussions
and in paper in class: 6+pgs, Works Cited page with 5 sources
(sources are 3 from class—Pinker, Hutson, & topic reading from book, and 2 articles
from thelibrary databases)
May 8: Looking at rough drafts; conferences
May 15: Final Scheduled Class: Library Essay due in paper and by email. Library Essay is
due IN PAPER:6 pgs + Works Cited with 5 sources.
May 22: Exam day final grades email by request.
