Choose ONE advertisement from Dolce & gabbana.
It must be a static, hard copy advert from a magazine, journal, newspaper, website, billboard or similar public advertising space but NOT a moving image. So NO moving TV, FILM or DIGITAL adverts please!
It can advertise any product or service
Discuss what techniques the advertisement uses to sell its product
What references does it use? (e.g. historic, artistic, literary and so on)
What stereotypes does it portray and why?
How is location, layout, direction, lighting, costume, colour, typography, actors/models used?
Apart from the product what else is being ‘sold’
How does it engage our attention?
Consider the context of the advertisement – where does it appear? (if a magazine where in the magazine, what is it next to? If the advert is in the street where and how is it advertised, consider the importance of location etc.)
Include an illustration(s) of the advert, so do not spend time and words describing the advert, but concentrate on analysing details.
