Design Adaptive Fitness Strategies for Special Populations

Create a PowerPoint presentation consisting of 10 slides. Include a title slide on recommendations for adaptations to enable individuals from special populations to participate based on the following:
Observe a general fitness class: Select and visit a facility where fitness classes are held for the general public (community center, commercial gym, health spa, and/or wellness center). Observe a group fitness class. It can be any type of class. Take notes regarding the type of class, the instructor’s verbal cues and visual instructions, music being used, equipment, room set-up, and the participants in the class.

Select a group that is considered a special population. Explain the physical limitations that are characteristic of this group. What modifications to the exercises are needed? Why are these specific adaptations necessary? What are the goals and objectives for engaging this group in physical activity? What are the safety considerations? What special equipment is needed if any and how will you select equipment and resources to meet the needs of the group? Include examples of exercises and equipment supported by references.
