Critical claim

I will read this text as a communication text that tries to portray the main theme of the film that is otherwise hidden using action filled scenes. I will also read this text looking at the feminism claim and how that claim relates to the film Mad Max. My critical claim is “The movie is a debilitating feminist bit of proclamation veiled as an impact filled action flick.” Indeed, Mad Max has been mooted as a feminist movie because it portrays women as lesser beings especially when they are used as baby-making machines in the movie. However, there are differing views on the meaning of this critical claim as several reviewers claim that there is no feminist aspect in Mad Max. However, the most pronounced fact is that the film has camouflaged several themes with action packed scenes.

First, feminism is a concept that implies advocating for the rights of women in all field of life. This phenomenon has been in the public domain for several years because of the hardships that women are put under by the society. Women and other activists have sought to free themselves from this bondage, that is the reason books, and movies are made to help the cause. Mad Max has been produced as an action movie meant for entertainment with its action packed scenes. However, according to the critical claim, this movie has some elements of feminism even though they are concealed.

A good-looking man with a past full of troubles saves a gorgeous woman from subjugation only for the woman to save him back. In fury road, young boys are taught the art of fighting from an early age for the purpose of being soldiers known as War Boys while the young girls are brought up to become objects of reproduction. From the phrase “War Boys,” it is clear

The main actor in this flick, Furiosa, is a woman with military experience and is alsoare considered reproduction machines. Indeed, these women are fighting for emancipation from slavery by the main antagonist, Joe. These women think that the world was killed by men deeds. They question the fact that there is no women soldiers, no women engineers, and most importantly, why there are no female leaders in this society. This is a society where Furiosa tries to change the notion that women are meant for domestic activities while men are meant for important tasks. This is evidenced by the fact that Furiosa

The fact that male characters dominate other Hollywood movies shows why the text implies that it is a feminist film. However, other elements of the movie discourage the support for the arguments in the text. First, a feminist flick would have a female lead character instead of having her as a supporting character. Although Furiosa has been depicted as the main hero in the film, it is evident that the bigger roles in the movies are left to Max. This is a complete contrast to the elements of a movie intended to portray feminism. Secondly, feminism demands the respect for women in all fields of life including dressing. The fact that the movie contains some aspects of scantily dressed women implies that it goes against the codes of feminism, which suggests that being scantily dressed implies slavery to the desires of men. Mad Max has several scenes where women have few clothes on them implying that it is not feminine as claimed by the text.

Another element of the Mad Max, which shows how it cannot be taken as a feminist movie since Furiosa’s plan of driving into the sunset, was diluted by his male counterpart’s plan. In essence, a feminine movie would champion all the plans of the female hero while undermining those of the male protagonist. The most astounding fact is that the Max’s plan prevails implying that he knew what was right more than the women understood themselves.
