Assignment task:

Reading journal papers on financial topics is important for financial practitioners to build up their analytical skills and to understand the financial market trend and activity in a more sophistic way. The first assignment of this subject is designed for training our students to read professional or academic articles that analyse different aspects of the Venture Capital industry, including their performance analysis, strategy taking, risk measure, trend forecast, incentives or management issues.
All students should choose one paper on Venture Capital from a peer review journal (check the journal list provided below, e.g., Venture Capital Journal) (2010-2016) and well understand the paper. Key issues should be explored and understood in the paper include but not limited to:
• What are the research questions?
• What are key contributions of this paper to the literature that make it different from
previous studies?
• Data sources and major descriptive?
• Methodology or models adopted?
• Findings or conclusion?
